Why it’s time to stop beating yourself up
Hello, lovelies! It’s Friday, and today I want to talk about something crucial: why it’s time to stop beating yourself up. Many of us have been there—single, lonely, and questioning our worth. “Why did I pick that guy? Why did I do this or that?” It’s time to stop this self-criticism, and here’s why.
Unconscious Negative Patterns
Firstly, we often have unconscious negative patterns driving our actions. These patterns can lead us to destinations that aren’t good for us. Remember, these are unconscious, so stop beating yourself up for past actions. You were doing the best you could with what you had at the time.
Forgive Yourself
Many mothers, in particular, carry guilt for their past mistakes. But it’s essential to forgive yourself. You didn’t purposely make bad choices; you just didn’t know any better at the time.
Take Responsibility
While it’s important to stop self-criticism, it’s equally important to take responsibility for where you are and where you want to go. You can either continue being a victim of your past choices or start creating a new reality for yourself. Decide to make changes that will lead to the life you want.
Reflect and Adjust
This weekend, take some time to get clear about where you want to go. Reflect on your current actions, thoughts, and emotions. Identify any patterns you follow daily and see if they need tweaking. Awareness of these unconscious patterns is the first step to changing them.
Catch Yourself in the Moment
For example, if you find yourself binge eating out of habit, catch yourself in the moment. Instead of reaching for that third Tim Tam, choose a healthier alternative or go for a walk. Treat your body as a temple and start making choices that align with your future self.
Model Positive Behavior
If you have children, remember that you’re modelling behaviour for them. Show them how to treat themselves with love and respect. Inspire them to be amazing people by being an amazing example yourself.
