Should I cut carbs to lose weight?
“Should I cut carbs to lose weight?”… I see this question often, and the answer is absolutely NOT a simple yes or no!
I am a member of several weight loss communities, and I have even become involved in a number of their programs for my own research. I guess it’s difficult to have an opinion of a program unless I’ve tried it, right?
So recently I came across a post in one community from a woman who loves fruit. Problem is, the first two weeks of this particular program says “No fruit”!
The reason why this program says no fruit, is because the intention is to have people reduce their reliance on carbs – to lower their overall carb intake.
Lowering carb intake to lose weight works for many people, but the issue I have with this is that it absolutely does not work for all! For some, lowering their carb intake may contribute to fatigue, brain fog and other issues, so it’s important when following any program (if you feel you would like to follow a program), that you listen to your body.
The program I mentioned above is set up as a one-size-fits-all approach, and this is a problem. The reason this is a problem is that one size does NOT fit all! In fact, I don’t think there’s a single weight loss program that would be perfect for absolutely everyone!
This is why so many people try and fail to lose weight!
As my coaching client, I will teach you how to tune into your body and into your higher self, so you can “ask” directly if a program or a food type is optimal for you.
I will also facilitate the clearing of energies which have been preventing you from achieving your goal weight – sometimes it’s not what you think!
Because I am a Certified Nutrition Coach, I may also provide you with some advice and tips to help you to succeed, but the advice I provide is not exactly what you’d think!
For starters, I won’t advise you to stop eating certain foods. I won’t even advise you to exercise more!
Do you want to know what I DO advise?
Here’s some of the ideas (and don’t worry – these aren’t suggested all at once, and some may not be suggested at all!) I may run past many of my clients started on their weight loss journey. Maybe you could try these and track what happens!
- We may begin by monitoring a number of aspects of how you feel, what you do and what you think, without you changing a single thing.
- I may suggest that you try “Mindful eating” – This is where you remove all distractions (TV is turned off and phone put away), and you eat slowly and mindfully. Put your fork down between bites and really enjoy the flavour of your food. Some people see food only as fuel – I see it as something to be enjoyed!
- Journalling – write down the details of what you just ate. Include key ingredients. Take photos of your meal instead if you wish.
- 30-60 minutes after your meal, check in with your body and journal how you feel. Do you feel good? Do you feel light or heavy in your body? Do you feel bloated? Do you feel tired, or do you feel more energised?
- Add one whole food into one of your daily meals, and keep doing this for two weeks. When you feel ready, add one whole food to another of your daily meals – so that’s two meals per day which contain an extra whole food.
- Test and measure – continue to journal how you feel after every single meal. Yes this will take some time, but trust me – it’ll be worth it because you’ll be able to really notice how you progress!
You and I will work together to track and measure how you’re going with each new action we implement. I will be your “Accountability Partner”, and I’m there for you to vent to, I’m here for questions, and I am here for support!
So… should I cut carbs to lose weight?
To be honest, I’m not really sure! Your body and mine are very different and we’re going to handle foods in very different ways. If it feels good to try it, then do so – but if you’re already dreading the idea of cutting out every single food that you love, chances are you’re not going to stick to the diet anyway, right?
So let’s start with baby steps and set you up for long term success!
Where to from here?
If you want to lose weight and you’re curious about learning a new and different way of doing so, then my Soulful Manifesting program could be for you!
Not only do we approach your weight loss goals in a completely different way, I introduce an energy healing element to give your results a big boost! Excess weight usually has a root cause that’s linked back to old trauma, and I will facilitate the releasing of these old energies (or excess baggage!), to give your body a chance to return to its optimal state.
The benefits of this process are:
- Your weight loss journey will be tailored to you – it’s not set up as a one size fits all – that way you are more likely to succeed
- We’ll get to the root cause of your excess weight so that we can induce the releasing and healing from that issue
- Taking baby steps and implementing changes gradually will reduce the chances of you giving up and throwing all of your hard work down the toilet
- You will feel heard and fully supported throughout the entire program
- Having direct 1:1 access to your coach is always better than being a part of a group coaching setup as everything we talk about relates only to you, so you can stay on track to achieve your weight loss goal
