Today’s post is the first of 365 posts I’ll be writing over the coming year or so (because life often gets in the way, so this may take a little longer than a year!), as I work through the Course in Miracles.
Lesson 1 did my head in when I first read it and before I move on, I should add that the original Course in Miracles book was really difficult for me to understand, so I bought Pam Grout’s “A Course in Miracles Experiment – A starter kit for rewiring your mind (and therefore the world). It’s MUCH easier to understand and follow, so if you’re wanting to do this course, I suggest you invest in one or both of these books!
If you’re not in a position to buy the books, hopefully the summary of the lessons covered here will explain these lessons in a way that makes sense! I promise I will do my best! ๐
You are a miracle, capable of creating in the likeness of your Creator. Everything else is your own nightmare, and does not exist.
A Course in Miracles
Ok, so what on earth does that mean??
What this lesson is aimed at teaching us is that everything is literally made up by us! Our perceptions about something is what makes it “real” for us!
Let me give you an example…
Let’s say you had applied for your dream job. You were so excited about this job because it was perfect for you, and you were often daydreaming about how great life would be once that job was yours.
Sadly though, the job was offered to somebody else.
From your perspective, this outcome was absolutely devastating!
But from the successful candidate’s perspective, this was a perfect outcome!
So who’s right? Which perception is “real”?
You chose the perception of devastation, and the other person chose the perception of a perfect outcome. In other words, each of your perceptions was something you both made up in your minds!
When we look at the employer’s perspective, it’s different again. They found the right candidate and offered them the position, so theirs may be a perspective of satisfaction or similar.
Nothing I see means anything – what this ultimately means is that nothing means anything until we place our perspective on it. Until then, it just is! It’s not good, it’s not bad… it just is…
I think I’ll stop there because I could sadly talk about perspectives and perceptions all day, but then you’d fall asleep and I’d be talking to myself… Haha!
