How to decipher messages from spirit

Last month I learned more about how to decipher messages from spirit. I was blessed enough to be mentored by a talented medium and teacher, and it was so much fun!

Why do I want to learn how to decipher messages from spirit?

Firstly, I don’t want to become a practising medium, but I respect and admire the talented mediums I’ve had the pleasure of meeting or observing over the years.

Mediumship, and in particular, EVIDENTIAL mediumship, is an incredibly powerful way to prove to the people of the world that when our physical body dies, our spirit (or our soul) does not die with it.

So when a person experiences a mediumship reading and hears specific, evidence-based information from their loved one in spirit, it can help a great deal for the person on this side, to heal.

Why I want to learn how to decipher messages from spirit, is because I am often receiving guidance from my spirit guides or angelic type beings when I work with a client. Sometimes I have a client’s loved one come through with a message or guidance.

I want this information to be translated accurately when I pass it on to my client, which is why I feel it is important to hone this amazing skill!

The problem with messages from spirit

It’s not really a “problem” as such, but for me, it can be quite challenging to accurately translate the messages I receive. What spirit shows me is rarely a literal representation of what they want to communicate, but rather symbolic. I’ll touch on this shortly.

I have the ability to use all of my “clairs”, but am more clairvoyant than anything else. This means that spirit shows me images that appear in my mind, like very quick snapshots. Sometimes I receive a word in my mind (clairaudient), and sometimes I just know certain information (cognizant).

Other mediums out there receive their message really clearly, and a lucky few can actually SEE spirit with their eyes, or HEAR spirit with their ears! I’ve had to learn this skill the hard way, and I admit I still have a way to go, but I am still pretty proud of how I did with my mentor!

While working with Rhys Wynn Davies (my mentor) last month, I managed to communicate with a whole bunch of spirits. Rhys places a lot of emphasis on EVIDENCE. If I can’t give him specific (not generic!) evidence, then any old person could fluke an “accurate” reading!

So I know that when I work with Rhys, I really need to be as detailed and as specific as I can when giving him evidence from the other side.

On this occasion, however, after passing on evidence for a few minutes, it became clear that I had brought through more than one spirit, and so my evidence, while accurate, related to different people! Ugh! Ok, that’s something I need to work on – working out when I’m talking to more than one spirit and splitting up the information and linking it to each one, as I go. Easier said than done, I worked out!

Other amazing stuff came through too, such as specifics about the person’s body (I need to be careful not to share too much here, in case other students of Rhys come across this post and are swayed by this information), about what they did for a living, and where they lived. I even described the back yard of a lovely lady in spirit, and Rhys was able to confirm that what I had told him was accurate! Woohoo!

The highlight of my mediumship mentoring session

But there was a highlight from my mediumship mentoring session… actually there were two highlights.

The first highlight occurred when I asked an aunt (I think it was an aunt!) to provide me something relevant to Rhys that he would understand. She showed me small, cloth flowers. She really emphasised the word “cloth” when talking about these flowers. In my mind I asked if they were silk flowers, and I was told “CLOTH flowers”!

Rhys was able to share the details of a blanket he had been looking at the night before, with embroidered flowers on it. When he sent me a photo of the blanket it looked NOTHING like the image I perceived from his aunt, but he knew exactly what she was talking about!

Next, and this is my favourite, I had a gentleman in spirit communicating with me, and again I asked for some information relevant to Rhys, as proof that this gentleman was “hanging around” in spirit with him.

The gentleman showed me a flower. Doubt immediately came to mind, given I had already been shown flowers earlier, but I decided to go with it (as I have been taught to do so). The man was emphasising the orange circle in the middle of the flower. He kept talking about the round orange bit.

What I saw was a flower with a really pronounced centre which was bright orange, and it had white petals.

Rhys on the other hand, started to laugh, and he picked up his phone and said “This is what my daughter and I made this morning”, and he showed me this photo.

The petals in this image are made from mandarine segments, and the centre is a cracker! So as you can see, it wasn’t exactly what I saw in my mind, but again, Rhys knew EXACTLY what the gentleman in spirit was talking about. He also knows that this man was with him in spirit as he was making this flower that morning!

How to decipher messages from spirit

Deciphering messages from spirit doesn’t come naturally to all people, but I know it can be done. I am a good example of somebody who has always been quite left-brained and had never been taught how to tap into the amazing and incredible spirit world until quite recently, but I am getting better each time I practise.

When deciphering messages from spirit, it is really important to be open-minded and to immediately verbalise (or write down) what you see, as you see it. Sometimes it makes no sense to you (as in the flowers for me), but it will often make complete sense to the person you are receiving messages for! Sometimes you need to keep asking spirit to explain things further, and pass on what you receive, before the message is understood.

How to connect with spirit

The most difficult aspect of connecting with spirit is the fear that you are making things up. This often occurs when I take my clients through a past life regression as well!

So to address this fear or self-doubt, I have created a guided process that helps you not only connect with your spirit guides (it can be used to connect with loved ones in spirit too) but to discern whether what you are receiving is actually from spirit or just your mind playing tricks on you!
