Get motivated in a cute way: Join me on this challenge!
Even the motivators can struggle to get motivated sometimes, and recently that was me!
I KNOW I must move my body regularly in order to stay in shape. But it’s winter here, I’m busy, and I have so many excuses as to why I “can’t” exercise today!
Like many, I have a fitness goal, and I also have a weight goal. I don’t have a lot to lose, but my fitness and strength need a lot of work!
But… exercise is BORING right???
How to get motivated
Unlike my husband, I’m not an “outcome” person (your Manifesting Blueprint explains this). I’m not wired to set a goal and automatically get motivated to achieve it. In fact, I’m not that way AT ALL! If I try to set and achieve a goal this way, I’ll probably fail!
Instead, I need to be having FUN while working towards my goal. I must ENJOY the process or at least find it interesting, or I won’t do it! And I didn’t exercise much at all, for weeks and weeks. The only times I did was when hubby convinced me to go to the gym with him. I was only going once or twice a week and that wasn’t nearly enough!
What did I do to create motivation?
Late Saturday afternoon, I was being lazy and scrolling through Facebook when I came across an ad for a virtual challenge. This wasn’t just any challenge though. The creators of this challenge deserve a medal, because what they have created is not only motivating but fun too!
I did some research, then I checked out any reviews I could find about the challenge. After that, I immediately signed up! Then got changed into my walking gear and I went for a walk!
Like I keep saying, to manifest a new outcome (improved fitness and weight loss), you MUST make new choices! But sometimes it’s HARD to get motivated, right?
So it’s REALLY important that you determine what motivates you so that you can utilise that to your advantage. For me, to be in alignment with my Manifesting Blueprint, I MUST have fun during the process of working toward my goal or I just won’t do it! It’s how I’m wired, and no matter what you or anybody else says, I am not able to just set a goal and go for it unless I enjoy the process!
When I started to read more about the challenge, I was firstly very impressed with the whole idea! Who thinks of this stuff?? It’s brilliant, and they’re doing such a good thing to help people get moving again!
How the details of the challenge helped me to get motivated
The idea of this challenge is that you’re not just going for a run, a walk, a ride, or a swim – instead, you’re working towards a specific goal.
You start by picking the challenge you wish to complete, and this involves a virtual trek/ride/whatever through a specific part of the world. Each challenge is of a certain distance that needs to be completed within a set timeframe (SMART goals!).
My first challenge is the Giza Pyramids Virtual Challenge which is 46 miles or 75km through the city of Cairo, through to the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World! I plan to do the Amazon Forest one next, which is much longer!
As you continue on your journey, your distance is plotted against a virtual map, you receive postcards and fascinating information emailed to you as you reach each milestone, and a tree is planted or several plastic bottles are cleaned out from the ocean. I liked the tree-planting idea most of all!
You can also see the other challengers and where they are placed on the same map, relative to yourself.
The technical aspects
The challenge can be linked to your smart device and you also have an app on your phone where you can manually enter your distances, or view your progress.
You can do this alone or as part of a team, and at the end, you receive a beautiful medal that has been designed to match the challenge you just completed!
The Facebook group is also really supportive, and it’s amazing to see how many challenges some people have completed – I personally think some of them may be addicted! 😀
