Being in pain is not normal
Today I came across a post in one of the Facebook groups I’m in, where a person had posted about her treatment for heartburn. A bunch of others began posting their treatments too, before one person decided to play devil’s advocate. She said something like this…
“Why have you got heartburn? Fix the why and don’t just bandaid with natural or medical treatments. Always treat the why.”
I completely agreed with this post, and I added the following:
“It’s all well and good to address the symptoms, especially if they’re painful, but you absolutely need to be looking into WHY the issue is there in the first place. It’s not normal to experience heartburn – it’s a message from your body that something is wrong.”
It’s true – it is NOT normal to be in pain, whether it’s physical or emotional pain. But… all too often people turn to their doctors for medication or they turn to natural remedies to address the symptom, but none of these people are addressing why the pain is there in the first place!
Messages from our body
Our bodies are incredible, and they know how to get our attention. Unfortunately for most of us though, the only way we’ll listen is if our body is in pain! If we were more in tune before our bodies resorted to pain, then maybe we wouldn’t experience it in the first place? Oh well… **Michelle shrugs her shoulders**
Ok, we’re not all perfect, and I know myself how not listening can have consequences, after recently experiencing some severe shoulder pain. I did need to turn to pain killers at first, but they’re no longer required because I’ve been addressing what caused the issue in the first place!
Here’s the thing… if something is going on for us, even if it’s subconscious, our body will tell us in some way. Here are some examples of what may be behind some physical pain:
- Sore throat: Speaking your trouth
- Pain in the shoulder: Carrying the weight of the world
- Back pain: Lack of support from others, from yourself or the Universe
- Injured right knee: Issue with moving forward (could be fear/anxiety around this?)
- Rashes: Something’s getting under your skin
- Digestive issues: Struggling to “stomach” a situation
- Heartburn: Feelings of stress around being unable to express your needs, or feeling unsafe to be still
Medical intervention
I believe it’s always a good idea to seek an official diagnosis if you’re experiencing any type of chronic pain or symptom, and it’s usually necessary to apply the treatment that’s been prescribed to you. I also believe that it’s extremely important to also seek to address the root cause of the issue too.
Otherwise, the treatment you’ve been prescribed will likely do nothing more than cover up the symptoms – the message from your body that something is wrong – but it won’t necessarily make them go away completely. And yes, if you’re prescribed antibiotics for an infection, yes it will go away eventually, but why did you experience the infection in the first place? What caused your vibration to lower to a point where you were able to experience this infection?
Healing the cause
Getting to the root cause of what caused the issue in the first place and working to heal that, is the only way to prevent the problem coming back once you’ve stopped following the prescribed treatment for that issue.
Energy work is about identifying what’s caused those symptoms in the first place, so that those causes can be addressed. Sometimes the cause could be a number of trapped emotions or imbalances in your energy field. Or maybe you have experienced something in a past life that you have carried through into this life in your energy?
Either way, once the causes has been addressed, and sometimes this can take a while, and if you are subconsciously ready to heal (some people aren’t – “secondary gains” is one reason why), then over time you should begin to see a reduction in those symptoms, even without medication or treatment.
I’ve worked with a number of people who were experiencing a health issue when we met, and over time they were able to wean themselves off the medication that they’d been relying on for years!
In cases like this, I always suggest that the client speak with their doctor, as it’s important they follow the weaning process properly so as not to cause more issues with their health.
Being in pain is not normal
So being in pain is NOT normal – but it’s common. If you are experiencing any type of pain, whether it’s physical or emotional, use Google to find out what may be behind the issue. Type in something like “The spiritual meaning behind back pain” or whatever the ailment is, and see what you find. Maybe this will be a lightbulb moment for you!
