ACIM Lesson 28: Above all else I want to see things differently
Hi, everyone! It’s Thriving Thursday, and today we’re diving back into A Course in Miracles, after a little break from it!
In this episode, we’re exploring Lesson 28: “Above all else, I want to see things differently.” If you’re new here or want to catch up on previous lessons, select the “Course in Miracles” category to find the first 27 lessons.
Understanding the Lesson
A Course in Miracles can sometimes be a bit difficult to get your head around, so I also refer to Pam Grout’s “The Course in Miracles Experiment” for a clearer interpretation. Pam’s version simplifies the concepts and translates them into something most people should understand!
Today’s lesson is about the importance of seeing things from a new perspective.
Pam explains that when we truly commit to wanting to see things differently, blessings start to show up, or rather, we become open enough to notice them. We begin to recognise our connection to everything around us, including objects and people we might initially feel separate from.
Real-Life Application
Let me share a story from Pam’s book that illustrates this lesson beautifully. Gail, a newcomer to one of Pam’s “Possibility Posses,” decided to start her day by asking for a perfect day without specifying what that entailed. Her day unfolded with pleasant surprises: a friend called offering tickets to a master gardener’s tour, she was treated to lunch, enjoyed an enlightening visit with another friend, and ended the day at a Beatles reunion concert, singing “All You Need Is Love” with a room full of happy people.
The Lesson in Dating
This lesson can be particularly powerful when applied to dating and relationships. Imagine going on a date with the mindset, “I am going to have a fantastic time today,” rather than dreading yet another disappointing experience. This shift in perspective can transform your dating experiences into opportunities for joy and connection, regardless of the outcome.
Key Takeaways
- Commit to Seeing Differently: Truly wanting to see things differently opens us up to new blessings.
- Connection and Unity: Recognise that we are not separate from the world around us.
- Positive Expectations: Approach each day with the expectation of having a perfect day, and watch as it unfolds in surprising and delightful ways.
- Shift Your Perspective: In relationships, focus on the positive possibilities rather than past disappointments.
Remember, every day can be filled with infinite possibilities and happiness if we choose to see it that way. I encourage you to take this lesson to heart and apply it in your daily life.
