A tale of a date I went on over 20 years ago
Hello, lovely readers! It’s Michelle here, welcoming you to another Wacky Wednesday. Today, I’m diving into my past to share a dating story from over 20 years ago. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy this trip down memory lane!
The Setup
This tale takes us back to a time before the Internet dominated our lives and dating apps were nonexistent. One evening, I was out with a girlfriend at a bar, and I met a guy. As the night wound down, he asked for my number and if he could take me out. I agreed, and we set up a date.
The Date Begins
Fast forward to the date night. I was getting ready when I heard a car horn beeping outside. It was him. He didn’t come to the door; he just beeped from the car. Red flag number one. Nevertheless, I went to the car – something I would never recommend now. Always get yourself to and from your first date for safety.
Dinner Disaster
We arrived at the restaurant, and from the get-go, the conversation was dull. He kept bragging about how much money he made and how well-off he was. Not the most engaging or endearing topic of conversation, right? But I endured it, hoping maybe things would get better.
Dinner ended, and we went to the counter to pay. This is where things took a turn for the worse. He paid for his meal only, leaving me to cover mine. So much for impressing me with his financial prowess! At that point, I just wanted the date to end.
The Awkward Goodbye
He drove me home, and the conversation continued to be lackluster. When we arrived at my place, I tried to be polite and leaned in for a kiss on the cheek to say thank you. But he turned his face, aiming for a kiss on the lips. I quickly pulled back, bolted out of the car, and shut the door behind me.
Lessons Learned
Looking back, this date was a disaster from the start. Here are some key takeaways:
- Respect Matters: He didn’t come to the door to pick me up, which showed a lack of respect from the get-go.
- Bragging is Unattractive: His constant talk about money was a turn-off. Authentic conversation is far more appealing.
- Generosity Counts: Paying for only his meal after bragging about his wealth was not impressive.
- Personal Boundaries: Trying to force a kiss is never okay. Always respect personal boundaries.
Reflection
This date taught me a lot about what not to accept in a relationship. While he might not have been a bad person, his actions spoke volumes about who he was at that time. Thankfully, I didn’t agree to a second date and moved on to better things.
Remember, ladies, value yourself and don’t settle for less than you deserve. There are better dates and people out there who will respect and cherish you.
Until next time, stay fabulous and remember to laugh at the past – it’s all part of the journey!
